The accompanying information comprises copied extracts from the 《武經總要》[Wu Ching Tsung Yao / Wu Jing Zong Yao], (1044), on flamethrowers, smoke bombs, toxic smoke bombs, gunpowder composition, faeces bombs etc. The documents also include a contemporary English translation of the letter; notes by John Moffett, Librarian of the Needham Research Insitutute about the indentity of the scribe of the letter and notes, (May 2002).
